Keynote Talk 1

Stephen Pusey
CTO, Vodafone


Steve Pusey joined Vodafone Group Plc on 1st September 2006 as Group Chief Technology Officer, and has been a member of the Vodafone PLC Board since 2009.  Steve is responsible for all aspects of Vodafone’s Networks, IT capability, Products & Services and Research & Development.  Steve was also the Vodafone representative for the GSMA between 2010 and 2013. Prior to joining Vodafone, Steve was one of the most senior executives at Nortel and held the position of Executive Vice President, and President, Nortel EMEA.  He joined Nortel in 1982 and gained a wealth of international experience across both the wireline and wireless industries and in enterprise applications and solutions.  During his time as President of Europe from 2001 to 2005, he managed far-reaching change programmes that led the region back to significant growth. Steve Pusey gained telecoms and micro-electronics qualifications prior to spending several years with British Telecom and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard University.

Hossein Moiin
Chief Technology and Strategy Officer, Nokia Siemens Networks


Hossein Moiin has over 25 years of international experience in the Information Technology and telecommunications industries with proven expertise in driving technology strategy and architecture to ensure growth and profitability. He is known to have an in-depth understanding of the business context of the ICT sector, bringing a high level of customer focus and innovation to Nokia Siemens Networks. Hossein joined Nokia Siemens Networks from British Telecom in 2010. During his extensive career, he has worked in several leading companies in leadership roles in Europe, Asia and the United States. As an active consultant, Hossein has been a Board Member of several technology startup companies. Furthermore, he has served as an investment or strategy advisor in leading firms across the globe. Hossein holds a Ph.D, Master of Science, and Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Software Defined Networking (SDN) - A new paradigm supporting virtualization and programmability in the network infrastructure

Heinrich Stüttgen
VP, NEC Europe


Heinrich Stüttgen was a Fulbright scholar at the State University of New York at Buffalo (NY) from where he holds a Master of Science degree (1979). He obtained a Doctor of Science (1985) degree in computer science from the University of Dortmund. In 1985 he joined the IBM Research and Development Laboratory in Germany, developing one of the first mainframe UNIX systems. In 1987 he moved to IBM’s European Networking Center at Heidelberg, where he researched protocols for high-speed networks and multimedia communications. In July 1997 Heinrich joined NEC Europe Ltd. as founding manager of NEC’s Network Laboratories in Heidelberg. Since June 2007 he is Vice President of NEC Laboratories Europe, responsible for NEC’s ICT related R&D activities in Europe. Heinrich has widely published in various scientific conferences, journals and books. He was a guest lecturer at Mannheim University in Computer Networks and has been project auditor and proposal evaluator for the European Commission in the ICT area. His current technical interest focuses on Software Defined Networking and the Internet of Things. Heinrich is an IEEE Fellow and serves as Director of Conference Development on the Board of Governors of the IEEE Communications Society. From 1998 to 2009 he served as vice-chair of the German Information Technology Society’s special interest group on communications and distributed systems.
